“I have turned my back to those who kill me, and my cheeks to those who pluck the thong; I did not hide my face from humiliation and spitting” (Isaiah 50:6)
Meaning: Isaiah 53 tells us that his flogging, wounding, and death was necessary to save sinners. He took our sins upon himself. The Bible says that God, “He who knew no sin, made him sin for us, that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). When Jesus suffers, He suffers for our sins. To suffer is to pay the penalty of sin. Sin deserves to be whipped. Sin deserves to spit out. The crucifixion is because of sin. Since Christ took our sins upon Himself, it became necessary to lashes Him. It became necessary for them to bear the spit. They needed to be ashamed.
If you wonder how God sees sin, look at his son, his back with lashes, the hair plucked from his cheeks, the soldiers on his face when he was sacrificed for you and me. Spit. It would not be surprising if you and I were flogged for our sins, plucked our hair, spit on our faces. But he, being the son of God, endured human humiliation out of bounds.
Jesus stood in our place to suffer punishment, and “it is pleasing to Jehovah to crush him; He made him sick; When you offer his life as a guilt offering” (Isaiah 53:10). When our sins were imputed in Him, Christ suffered, before and after his crucifixion, suffered a great deal of suffering, reproach.
Notice what the verse says, “I have turned my back to those who kill me.” Jesus willingly handed himself over to those who kill. Those who uprooted his beard spat on his face. He gave himself to die on the cross. No one inspired them to suffer our sin. He voluntarily chose to bear all the punishment for his sins. In return for us, he should be called a curse so that he sacrifices himself for the sin of men – so that after this sacrifice, God the Father will forgive us, and we will be without sin in his eyes.
How Many Lashes Did Jesus Get?

Lord Jesus Christ was crucified by the Roman government of that time. The crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ is the most famous martyrdom in history. Before he was crucified, 39 lashes, crowned with thorns, and mocked. Nails were hit in the hands and feet, and Neja was hit in the rib. The Lord Jesus Christ prayed for his crucified people even in such pain, O God! Forgive them because they don’t know what they are doing. Lord Jesus Christ was such an ocean of mercy.
Why Did The Romans Beat Jesus With 39 Lashes/Whips?
What does it mean to be healed by his lashes? How many lashes did Jesus get? Do we receive both spiritual and physical healing by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ? Let’s find out.
The Bible verse from which this phrase is taken is Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; For the sake of our peace, we had to chastise him so that his lashes might heal us.” Peter also used this verse in his first epistle – “He crucified our sins in His own body so that we might die for sins and live for righteousness: by being killed by Him you would live to righteousness.” healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
Interestingly, apart from these two verses, there is no other verse in the Bible where the words “whip/beat” and “heal/heal” come together. At the same time, we also see that the healing that is being talked about in both these verses is the healing of our souls from the ill effects of sin and not any physical healing obtained from illness, infirmity, physical disorder, or any other physical disease.
Because, in general usage, the term “heal/heal” is mostly used to refer to recovery from physical problems, it is assumed that “heal” here also refers to physical healing. It’s the same.
Unfortunately, preachers and teachers who want us to accept this meaning continue to teach, emphasize this same misinterpretation, and maintain this meaning. They use the Bible verse for its context and the continuity of the article. It is shown only by taking it out of it, not in its context. To interpret passages or parts of the Bible to draw appropriate conclusions and make them acceptable, neither do they pay attention to context and context, allow their listeners to do so, nor teach you how to do this.
Another very important fact that we need to pay attention to is that nowhere throughout the Bible both the phrases “By His lashes, we may be healed” and “By His lashes, you are healed” None have ever been used, nor ever symbolic, with many miraculous healings performed by any prophet, apostle, or man of God – and works of miraculous physical healings in the Old and New Testaments. There is no shortage.
Look at some examples of physical healing from the New Testament: Paul instructed Timothy, “In the future, do not drink only water, but use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illness.” taxes” (1 Timothy 5:23).
Clearly, Timothy was troubled by a recurrent physical ailment, and Paul advised him to take a “little wine” medicine for it – why didn’t Timothy recommend that the Lord Jesus beat Timothy?
Use food to heal yourself, and claim to have received your healing from the Lord based on that? Consider Paul himself “a thorn pricked in the flesh” – says Paul, and so that the abundance of revelations would not swell me, I had a thorn pricked in my body, that is, an angel of Satan, to punch me so that I would not swell. I’ll go.
About this, I begged the Lord three times, that it may be taken away from me” (2 Corinthians 12:7, 8). Why did Paul have to plead with the Lord for the suffering of his body? Instead, why didn’t he claim to have received the healing from the wrath of the Lord? And in Paul and Timothy, there can be no doubt about having “faith” to receive healing from the Lord!
We also see in the book of Acts that when, in Acts 3, Peter healed the lame at birth sitting at the entrance of the temple, he did not say to the lame man, “Lord Jesus’ lashes/beats.” By eating, you are healed, and you are completely healed;” Rather, “then Peter said, I have no silver and gold, But I give you what I have: Walk in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth” (Acts 3:6).
Is there any instance anywhere in the Bible when someone has been healed by saying the phrase “By the scourge/beat of the Lord you/we are healed”? Why are this meaning and interpretation so enthusiastically promoted, taught, and accepted if not? More importantly, why are people so naive and foolish to accept it instead of asking those who tell, teach, and spread this falsehood to explain and exemplify the basis of their propaganda, expose their untruth, and Stop the false teachings?
The point is plain and clear that these verses refer to the suffering of the torment of the cross that the Lord Jesus put in our place, which He justified for the sins of the world, for the sins He took upon Himself (1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 2:2; 1 John 3:5).
By taking upon Himself the punishment of our sins, He had to endure that flogging and the torture of the cross, and by the Lord’s suffering, we were redeemed from our sins, and our hearts are broken by sin. Healing needed was found, which Isaiah had predicted and claimed by the Lord Jesus to be fulfilled (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18). The phrase “May we are healed by his lashes” does not refer to physical healing from diseases and ailments but to the healing of our hearts from the ill effects of sin.
Similarly, nowhere in the Bible is it written that the blood of the Lord Jesus heals us from physical ailments. The blood of the Lord Jesus is the only remedy for many other things – and all of those things are spiritual, linked to our relationship with the Lord, for example – the atonement for our sins (Romans 3:25). ; our justification (Romans 5:9); To bring us closer to God, that is, to reconcile us to God (Ephesians 2:13); purifying our consciences from the dead (Hebrews 9:14) and giving us the courage to enter the holy place (Hebrews 10:19); our redemption (1 Peter 1:19); cleanse us from our sins (1 John 1:7); We are redeemed from our sins (Revelation 1:5).
But nowhere is there any mention or instance of physical healing by the blood of the Lord Jesus, and nowhere did the apostles or characters in the New Testament refer to any or any physical healing as the “Blood of Jesus Christ.” The phrase is used or taught.
So teaching people to ask for or claim a part of the Bible in some form or function that neither the Word of God tells nor tells us to ask/teach us to do, certainly Not at all according to the Word of God, to do so is wholly inconsistent with the Word, and against 2 Timothy 2:15; So doing these things is never acceptable, and should be completely despised.
