Since God has given us this new life, we are aware of where we are. This is what’s exciting about Christianity. We do not have to fight to save ourselves, wondering whether we’ve been praying enough or done enough good works. Christ took on this task for us, and it was accomplished.
New Birth Causes Total Change
The new birth is another word for rebirth.
Before salvation, we are humiliated:
“To you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins…” (Ephesians 2:1, NIV)
After the new birth, our resurrection is so complete that it can be described as nothing less than a completely new life in the Spirit. The apostle Paul puts it this way:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old is gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV)
