What Does The Bible Say About Jealousy?

I want to talk about, What Does The Bible Say About Jealousy? How dangerous is that posture? And what we can do to not be jealous. I don’t know about you guys that I grew up like a pretty competitive person. Being competitive is bad, so don’t jump on me right now but being competitive at the expense of others is not only self-destructive, but it destroys the environment and the people in your environment.

So I want to start by talking about how to deal with jealousy. There are many ways you can deal with jealousy. There are both healthy and unhealthy ways to live.

I’m gonna start with one unhealthy way to deal with jealousy, and it’s controlling the environment. That is just making sure that nobody does anything in your environment that you’ll become jealous of.

When someone controls an environment, it just makes sure that everyone is living and receiving out of whatever you perceive that person deserves. It’s not what God perceives that person deserves is what you perceive that person deserves. And when you do that, you’re just changing a structure to deal with all of your heart issues with your heart.

So you’re not healing that jealous spirit aside you’re not getting rid of that you’re just covering it up and living in fear and living in control to make sure that your heart doesn’t act up in that jealousy when it’s it’s still there the entire time and in this environment when anyone starts getting great or getting better at you than something. Then you’ll find a way to restructure things.

So that they can’t be great at it anymore and the thing is there’s a lot of really negative side effects from controlling an environment like that one of the biggest ones I think is that as an environment or as a whole like you’ll never get anything done. When you control an environment, you’re stifling creativity innovation. You’ll never convene anything different you really can’t spring influence anywhere you go.

Because everything and everybody is the same, and a passage that’s cool in the Bible is in first Corinthians chapter 12, and it talks about how the body of Christ is like a human body. Everyone is different parts, but they all work together, and we all need each other.

It says you know that I can’t say to the hand I don’t need you. Just like the head can’t say to the feet, I don’t need you. Because the thing is, a hand can never do what an AI does in the same way that I can never do what the hand does.

So God’s ability is that he is given to each and every person. God’s abilities that he is giving you are directly related to your purpose, and I will never have the same purpose that a hand does.

So even if I did have those gifting and abilities, it wouldn’t make sense, so within the body of Christ, you need people that are better than you at things.

I’m gonna say it again because this can be mind-blowing. You need people who are better at certain areas, and you don’t even just need better people. Still, you rely on others being favored in areas that you aren’t favored, and once you start realizing that, things will completely shift.

So just to give you guys a picture, I corrupt competitively running in a cross-country race in a long-distance race. The muscle group that uses the most likes, right? I mean, I’m not using a ton of like arm muscle; I mean a little bit but none time, but when I cross a finish line and get first place in a race, my legs aren’t the thing that gets rewarded me as a person me as a whole my whole body gets that same reward.

So once you start honoring the gifts and abilities that you don’t have but that rest on other people, then you can start partaking in the harvest and the gifting that somebody worked a lot harder to get than you. And that’s a cool thing if you think about it.

So controlling an environment and controlling what people do and how they do it so that you don’t get jealous will ruin your ability to benefit and partake in other people’s favors and gifting around you.

And some of you might be thinking, well, I’m not trying to be controlling. I just want things to be fair. The kingdom of heaven is fair, right God is a just God, and yes, I want to say yes God is a just God.

But who much is given much is required, so we’re not all given the same things again. Your abilities and the gifting that God has given you are directly related to your purpose, so it’s different.

But if you’re given more, you’re acquired more, so it will come out fair at the end of it all, just not on this planet. There is no one like you. So when you’re jealous of someone else, you’ve forgotten to be the best you that you can be, and you’ve forgotten to delight. The purpose and the abilities that God is giving you and you specifically that nobody else has jealousy at its core says you’re getting favored and you got it for me, and you stole it from me.

It attributes the kingdom of heaven as a kingdom of lack. It’s a mentality that says there’s not enough of God’s favor or blessing to go around, so if you’re getting insulted. I’m getting jealous. It means that I think that you got favored at my expense. There’s no blessing left for me, but that is so wrong.

You guys, the kingdom of heaven is a kingdom of abundance favorite, and abundance is abundant of blessing. Still, we all get different favor in different blessings according to God’s purposes for us.

So what is the healthy way to deal with jealousy? You’re not gonna like this answer, but it’s to serve people that have the favor that you’re jealous of. Some of you girls are like, where’s another way? Honestly, that’s like the best way to rid yourself of jealousy, and what that is it’s taking a posture of humility.

So when you humble yourself and start recognizing the gifts and abilities that God has given other people, you start to recognize that you have your gifts and abilities.

Joseph’s Brothers Are Perfect Examples Of Jealousy In The Bible

Joseph’s brothers are the best example of jealousy. But it’s also the most destructive form of jealousy. It all started when Joseph had a dream, and his brothers hated him for it. He told them, Hear my dreams: We were binding sheep in the field, then, behold! My sheep rose and stood upright. Your sheaves gathered around it and bowed to my sheaf (Gen 37:5-7).

His brothers were furious and asked, Are you to rule us? Or are you really to rule over us? So they hated him even further for his dreams” (Gen 37.8). One reason for the problem was Joseph, Jacob’s favorite child. Jacob gave Joseph a coat in many colors to symbolize Jacob’s prominence. They conspired against Joseph when he “came near to them. They spoke to one another, saying, Here comes a dreamer.

Let us now kill him and put him in one of the pits. We will then say that a fierce beast has devoured Joseph, and we’ll see what happens to his dreams. (Gen 37:18-20). Joseph was sold to his brothers, and eventually, he died. But, much later, the brothers would realize that their jealousy, clearly sinful, had done much good (Gen 50.20).

A Bible Story, About King Saul’s Jealousy Of David

What does jealousy mean to you? Perhaps you have experienced jealousy in your life. Are you sure God will be pleased with this? I’m about to tell you a bible story regarding king saul’s jealousy of David. As I’m telling you this story, let’s focus on God’s message to us.

The story starts with the people of Israel wanting a king to be like all the other nations. As they had prayed for a king, they received exactly as they had asked for, saul, a man who was a humble and kind farmer, was soon anointed king, and the people of Israel gave him a lot of attention.

But as time went by, everyone’s attention shifted to David as he was victorious in his battle against Goliath. This victory made the people of Israel look up to David, and out of jealousy, Saul wanted revenge which made him want to kill David, and by doing that, Saul disobeyed God’s commands that could keep him better.

Because of this act of disobedience, Saul was no longer favored by God, and as a result, David was anointed king by Samuel. Just like saul, we have all experienced jealousy in our lives, but rather than that, we as Christians should encourage love and support one another as God has called us to do.

Because in the end, what’s more, important isn’t jealousy, but love for our neighbors, as shown in first corinthians chapter 13 verse 4, which states love is patient and kind love does not envy or boast. It is not arrogant.
