Who Wrote Proverbs In The Bible?
King Solomon wrote the majority of the proverbs in the book of Bible. However, these were compiled into an earlier book from King Hezekiah.
It was reported in the Bible that Solomon wrote 3000 letters, but we have fewer than that, 900, which are directly attributable to him.
1 Kings 4:132 (NKJV) He used to speak three thousand proverbs, and his songs included 1,000 and 5.
Chapters 30 and 31 are attributed to other authors. King Lemuel could be a pen name for Solomon because there isn’t any other king with that name that is known. Lemuel is a reference to “For God, and Prov 31:1 can be rephrased in the form of the words of the King, to God.
It’s sad to note that although the prophet recorded 3000 wise words, only a few of them have survived. They did not have the authority of scripture until the period of Hezekiah and numerous bad kings in the time between.

The book of Ecclesiastes is also known by its Hebrew name Qohelet. Qohelet refers to the person whose philosophy is being represented in the book. The book is set up so that someone else introduces the philosophy of Qohelet. I know that’s a little complicated, but that’s where the name comes from.
We don’t know who Qohelet refers to or even what the word means. We can make guesses, and people have done so throughout time and interpretation.
Still, we don’t know it usually refers to somebody who’s gathering something, but exactly what that means in this context is hard to determine is this somebody’s actual name is it a title, is it an office is it a description there’s a lot we don’t know. Still, it doesn’t matter because the book has its power independent of this individual.
The book is a wisdom book, and therefore we are learning the wisdom of the book refers to the son of David. Therefore it certainly invokes the imagery of Solomon.
Still, other parts of the book seem to give the idea of someone who’s a commoner rather than a king, so this may gather together various perspectives various personae very difficult to tell Solomon traditionally has been connected to the book.
It seems like the author intended the reader to think in terms of Solomon’s experience, at least for part of the book, so an unnamed author is presenting the wisdom of Qohelet. We don’t know when the book was written, but that rarely matters again for wisdom literature.
